MR. ROMNEY: ... But let me mention another thing, and that is parents. We need moms and dads helping raise kids. Wherever possible, the — the benefit of having two parents in the home — and that's not always possible. A lot of great single moms, single dads. But gosh, to tell our kids that before they have babies, they ought to think about getting married to someone — that's a great idea because if there's a two-parent family, the prospect of living in poverty goes down dramatically. The opportunities that the child will — will be able to achieve increase dramatically.A few years ago, this would have been uncontroversial, and like praising apple pie. But Pres. Barack Obama inaccurately bragged that he was raised by a single mom, and he is entirely dependent on single women voters:
So we can make changes in the way our culture works to help bring people away from violence and give them opportunity and bring them in the American system.
in a recent New York Times/CBS News poll, single women favored Mr. Obama over his Republican rival, Mitt Romney, by 29 pointsRomney leads among married men and women, according to recent polls.
The incentives are clear. Democrats win votes by promoting single motherhood. Republicans win votes by promoting policies that favor kids having two parents.
I am going with kids having two parents. Single moms are ruining America.

So, do you figure that by Obama mentioning that he was raised by a single mother, he is actually promoting single motherhood ?
Yes, I do think that Obama is supporting single motherhood. He also does it by an assortment of welfare incentives and anti-dad policies.
Did Obama initiate these welfare incentives and anti dad policies, or did they already exist ?
I'm currently reading "the character of nations" by Angelo Codevilla right now.
A big point so far in the book has been the active involvement of governments to take power away from families and redirect that loyalty to the government.
Naturally he uses Soviet Russia and Communist China as prime examples.
Amazon link: The Character Of Nations: How Politics Makes And Breaks Prosperity, Family, And Civility. Looks like a good book.
Most of those bad policies predate Obama. But he must be doing something for the single moms, because they are voting for him overwhelmingly.
He must be doing something for them....? So these policies existed under Bush, too ? I guess that Bush was supporting policies that were for single motherhood and anti dad.
Welfare spending topped $1 trillion under Obama. A lot more than under Bush.
And what sort of economy did Bush leave behind to create this extra welfare spending ?
So these pro single motherhood and anti dad policies existed under Bush, too ?
So you tell me why the single moms are voting for Obama, and most of the married women are voting for Romney.
You can check out what the polls reveal about why more single mothers support Obama vs. Romney.
What sort of economy did Bush leave behind to create this extra welfare spending ?
So these pro single motherhood and anti dad policies existed under Bush, too ?
The polls say that single moms prefer Obama because they want free contraceptives, more welfare spending, more feminist policies, etc.
You seem to be arguing that Bush was just as favorable to the single moms, but that is not what the feminists say.
No, I'm not arguing, I'm just asking..
What sort of economy did Bush leave behind to create this extra welfare spending ?
So these pro single motherhood and anti dad policies existed under Bush, too ?
Bush left a housing crash that particularly affected people with sub-prime loans on overpriced homes. There was a recession that was similar to the one that Clinton left Bush.
Yes, there were bad policies under Bush, but Obama has been passing feminist laws and appointing feminist judges.
Don't take my word for it. Just ask the feminists and single moms who they are supporting.
What were the bad policies under Bush ?
Did Obama pass the feminist laws or congress ?
I don't know, I think that Obama just wanted to point out that the whole "two-parent-household" argument isn't based in any kind of fact or science.
I think he just wanted to make the poing that any household that is loving and supportive will be better for a child than an abusive and neglectful one...whether the household is single-parent, two-parent not married, gay-couple, or hetero-married couple.
Actually there are a lot of facts and science to back up the argument that kids do best with their two parents. There have been dozens of studies, and they all show that.
