The son of slain Sen. Robert Kennedy invoked his dad’s 1968 assassination yesterday as he explained why he tried to snatch his newborn son from a Westchester County hospital.I don't get the connection to his dad getting shot, but he ought to be able to hold his baby in the maternity ward without CPS interference.
Douglas Kennedy was arrested in February after grappling with nurses who tried to stop him from taking the 2-day-old infant from the maternity ward at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco.
“It is OK for a father to hold his son in his arms ... my father was taken away from me when I was a baby,” Kennedy said after an appearance in Mount Kisco Town Court. “The only thing I wanted to do that night was to be with my son and hold him in my arms.”
Kennedy, a Fox News reporter, is the second-youngest of Robert and Ethel Kennedy’s 11 children.
He was charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child after his Jan. 7 run-in with nurses. The hospital also reported Kennedy to the state’s Child Protective Services.
“Our lives have been turned upside down simply because my husband wanted to take a walk with our son,” said his wife, Molly Kennedy.
Kennedy’s lawyer, Robert Gottlieb, blasted the prosecution as a “disgrace” and claimed two nurses have retained lawyers in a cash grab.

Please be careful how you represent this. Just because this man's father was shot doesn't mean he's soliciting sympathy on that point. Nor does it mean that's what he's doing every time he talks about the pain of losing his father. It shouldn't be any surprise that a man who lost his father as a baby would be acutely aware of the feelings of his own son because of it, and talk about hos own pain. While we the public might be tired of Kennedy news, their feelings, and their right to both feel and express them are real and ever-present. They can't turn their feelings on and off according to public perceptions or opinion about their behaviour, nor should they.
Substitute any father in this man's place and his attitude would be the same. Neither his family history, nor the way he emotes about it is relevant here. The relevant issues, the ONLY relevant issues, are the selfish and opportunistic behaviour of those nurses, the draconian maternity ward policies that protect them, the gratuitous state-sponsored resident evil of the CPS, and the acid teats of the feminist juggernaut that gives the whole damned system suck.
Let's not give them a foothold even in jest.
I am just quoting the NY Post. Any father should be able to hold his baby, whether he has a personal tragic story to tell or not. Yes, CPS is the evil.
