Evaluation delayed

I just got this message from my wife's lawyer:
I received a message from Dr. [name omitted] yesterday that he will need additional time to prepare his evaluation in this matter and asked that the court date be set some time after November 10th. Will you be available on November 16th for court?
So I guess I'll have to wait another week or two. I'd like to believe that the shrink is using the time in order to do an extra-careful job. I'll reserve judgment until I get his report.

I'm a little suspicious that the evaluator contacted your wife's lawyer and not you directly. And then your wife's lawyer contacted you? That means that your wife's lawyer had a discussion with the evaluator without you being present to witness what was being discussed. If the evaluator were the judge, then that would be considered ex parte. Savvy? My guess is, the evaluation came in better for you than your wife's lawyer would have liked...and something rotten was discussed between them. Remember, her lawyer is not your friend. His job is to make you look bad any way he can, not do you the courtesy of passing messages on to you. You're paying good money here ($1,600.?) SHIIITTT!! I'd be pissed. If I were you, I would complain.

I just got a letter from the shrink saying that "the evaluation will be completed on or before November 4". Maybe he called my wife's lawyer on the same day that he sent the letter, I don't know. It sounds a little fishy but I have too many more serious complaints to worry about this one.
