A mother whose teenage daughter nearly died from an infection caused by a bellybutton piercing was convicted Tuesday of endangering the girl's life by failing to seek medical attention until she was gravely ill.I don't think that parents should suffer criminal penalties for bad judgment. The real problem here was that a 13-year-old girl was able to get a bellybutton piercing over her father's objections. This would not have happened if the father had not been kicked out of the home.
Deborah Robinson, 39, could get up to five years in prison.
The girl developed an infection after piercing her own navel and inserting a ring.

More true than you'd ever believe.
Two years ago, my husband's daughter, showed up with a huge, hideous tattoo on her shoulder. She was 16 at the time. Her mother had given the approval. I'm sure she(mother) was probably drunk or stoned at the time.
I feel very badly for my husband. His support goes mostly for cigarettes, booze and dope. The kids look like street urchins when he picks them up and the courts have distributed so much of his money to that waste of humanity ex-wife that he can't afford to buy them MORE clothes too!
Why doesn't anyone see or check as to where this money is going? Child protective services were at their house TWICE because the school the middle child went to had been counseling her and were so alarmed by what she had told them that they visited the home. He'd GIVEN her the home. Didn't force a sale for his part of the equity or anything. And that alcoholic couldn't even managed to keep that asset. She lives in some brick concrete jungle dump with the two minor children. The 18 year old (with the tattoo) bailed. She couldn't stand the drunk anymore either!
I think that all they care about the is money. As if the kids see more than a small amount of it.
Sorry for the long rant. It is extremely frustrating to see the "poor mother" sob story all the time. It's such BS.
